L'Aquila two years later

It was two years ago: April 6th 2009. A terrible 6,3 earthquake destroyed L'Aquila and other 56 towns in the Abruzzo region, in the centre of Italy. It provoked more than 1.600 wounded and 300 dead.

Today more than 20 thousand citizens of L'Aquila reunited at the Duomo Square in this town at 3:32 am to remember the tragedy and the names of those who lost their lives under the rocks.

A real nightmare that seems to not have ended yet. What have been done after 24 months?
In words of the President Giorgio Napolitano, there are many things left. "L'Aquila needs work, education and the normal activities that the citizens of L'Aquila used to do, but it also needs a new historical centre", said Napolitano in a special visit to the area.

Meanwhile there's a whole population waiting for real solutions, for answers to their needs and for the right to have a house to live with dignity and possibilities for a better future.
